Quick Trip

We made a quick trip to Arkansas this weekend to pick up some furniture for the girls rooms and got to do a little visiting. Friday night we went to the Glen Rose vs Arkansas Baptist football game and it was fun. It has been a long time since I've been to a highschool fooball game, but they are just the way I remember them. The girls got to meet the mascot for Glen Rose and they thought that was cool.

Then on Saturday the Montgomery's came up from Monticello to visit and watch the game. (how sad) This was the first time we had seen Mason in a long time and he has turned into such the little man. The girls and Averi picked up where they left off last time and played and played and played.

College and the Chicken Nugget game

How many four year olds do you know who are obsessed with college? For a while we just called it 'that place I go when I grow up where I learn and get to spend the night.' After a bit of a rebellious day, she and Shannon were having a moment of 'Creative Correction' and made a list of all of the fun things that she liked to do. There are at least twenty five things on the list, from puzzles to going to the park to playing with Anabelle and Mommy. After the list was complete, she got to pick about 5 things that she could do and the rest remain until she 'earns' them back. The first one she picked was going to college. I find it hilarious that it was even on the list. I guess I should just be glad that her rough day as a four year old didn't leave her without the opportunity to go to college. (FYI..Anabelle has already annouced to us that she won't be going to college, but will stay home with Daddy)

Taylor and I were trying to decide how to best spend our remaining time before Anabelle woke up from her nap and she asked me if I knew how to play the chicken nugget game. The Chicken Nugget game??? She went on to remind me of the game that they played at swimming lessons where you and a partner hold hands and you each take turns going under water and blowing bubbles. Most of the summer she called the game the tater tot game (Teeter Toter game). Apparently it has been so long that her little brain just remembered it was something that you get at the drive thru.

Ana..Buh..Buh..BAY-UL

My youngest child is hilarious. Let's just say her name suits her perfectly. She is such a funny little southern belle. Recently we were at Target (of course) and she had the following conversation with the cashier.
Cashier: Hi! What's your name?
A: AnaBAYUL
Cashier: Oh, Anabelle?
A: No, Ana Buh Buh BAY UL!

She also says, "What is THE-US" (this) or 'What is THEY-UT" (that). Now, I'm not saying that Shannon and I don't have accents, but she is hilarious!!

Evacuees

We've had some hurricane Ike evacuees at our house for the last couple of days. The Taylors came all the way from Lufkin TX to Birmingham to get away from the storm. (Actually they had business nearby but we are telling ourselves, that they just like our company)







The kids had a blast together. Andrew and Taylor are only a month apart and are big buddies. They are also very competitive...kinda funny to watch. Three girls and a little boy make for some very interesting conversations. Us big kids had a great time too. We played golf and shopped and stayed up waaaaay too late visiting (and watching the weather). What a fun couple of days. We just wish we lived closer.

It looks like the storm went right over their house as a category one. Please pray that they have a house to go home to.

First Day(s) of School

Both Girls started school this week and are already loving it.

Taylor's first day was Wednesday. She came home telling us all about the 'school monster' and 'sweet Max.' Ie. The school monster runs down the hall, but sweet Max walks down the hall. I bet she spent at least thirty minutes telling us how the school monster did everything and how sweet max did it. She thought that was the funniest thing in the world. We LOVE Mrs Elizabeth. She's great.

While Taylor had her first day of school Anabelle had her own 'Special Day.' She got to go to ride in Taylor's car seat, and get cookies at 'Mickey Donalds' and even have a picnic with just her and Mommy and Daddy. This is her at the park. She LOVED all of our undivided attention.

Anabelle's first day of school was today and she was also very excited. We had already gone and met her teacher, "misser kimbu-lee." She could not have been less concerned about me dropping her off and she was grinning from ear to ear when we picked her up. I asked her what she did and she said, "Played and Go'd Potty."

She also has a recent funny. If she has misplaced something and finds it or hears exciting news her response is "OH! ALSO!" She uses it in place of "OH AWESOME!" She is such a hoot.
