Orange Night

Our new October tradition will be orange night. This was so fun for all of us. We all dressed in orange and all our food was orange (well, kinda). We had chicken spaghetti, carrots and butternut squash. We even had mandarine oranges for dessert. The girls colored pumpkins and wrote notes explaining why they were thankful for everyone. (well, kinda)

We finished it off by carving our pumpkin. The plastic orange tablecloth made for super quick clean up. Love the idea Ms Dori!!

Ten Random things...

Because...

1. Shannon has a bball game tonight
2. All three girls are in bed
3. I need to be doing about 400 loads of laundry
4. I have a kitchen that needs cleaning
5. I have a diaper bag I absolutely HAVE to finish, i mean start
6. I don't really want to do any of that....
7. Alison nominated me months ago to do this...kinda- I'm suposed to also nominate 10 more bloggers to do this to, but I'm not going to....sorry!

I'm going to share 10 random things about myself

1. I'm a control freak...I secretly got annoyed with Shannon for offering the last pear to the girls after supper. I was saving if for Taylor's lunch. Really? must I control the fruit also???

2. I am horrubl at speling and punctation? ;)

3. I have the best mom ever...no really i do. Not just because I mailed her fabric today to make dresses for the girls, but just because she is. Even my friends agree, she's the best. She doesn't judge or nag or pout. She's just the best that's all.

4. I make my kids put on hand sanitizer every single time they enter the car from school, church or the grocery store.

5. My husband and I have a secret handshake and NO I won't show it to you!!!

6. I once cried for days because my parents sold two recliners. (as a child not a college student)

7. Sometimes, I make master lists of all my other lists...seriously

8. The hair on one side of my head is exponentially curlier than the other side.

9. The first time I ever got a speeding ticket, the policeman changed my tire. (remember that Alison?)

10. Ten things is a lot of things...I'm out of things.

Just a little extra...Taylor cried for 30 minutes tonight because shannon cut the sleeves off of his basketball jersey (aka Tshirt). Honestly, I understand her concern...he did look like a bit of a dork with his white undershirt sleeves hanging out, but it didn't reduce me to tears. She went to bed hugging the extra sleeves, still crying. I've promised to sew them back on.

Open house

We had open house at the girls school and boy did they have fun. We of course had a pretty good time juggling our time between each classroom. I guess that is something we'll have to get used to. This is Anabelle with her adorable teacher. She is sooo good with my sweet girl. Anabelle's favorite time of school is 'potty time.' It took me a week to figure out that after potty time, they go get their bags together and stand by the door. After they have all done their jobs they get candy. This kid LOVES some candy!!!!

Taylor is doing a great job at school. I love getting her letter books, and weekly reader. I had both of those when I was in school and they bring back such cool memories. She brings a book home every night to read. She's doing wonderfully.

Pumpkin Patch

Shannon got to go to the pumpkin patch with Taylor's class last week (while I took daughter #3 to get 6 mos shots). The girls said that the trailer was stinky. Shannon said that the whole place was kinda stinky. That might have something to do with the porta potty's. ;)

Look at that big kindergarten class!! One observation-- as the mother of a 5k student, I am in the middle of a non-stop spelling bee. "Mommy, how do you spell....." For those of you who have read my blog for more than 5 minutes, you know spelling is not my strong suit. My mom swears that she named me Amy so I could spell it. We've actually had to make a few lifeline calls to get Taylor help with spelling. Anabelle likes to spell things too. Her question on how to spell something is often followed with, "Ok, how do you make a G?" So funny.

21st century tattleling

So, everyone was quietly eating breakfast, Caroline was playing in her exersaucer so I thought I could run to the shower for my typical 4 minutes. Taylor came in with my phone in hand. She had captured Anabelle getting into the candy and wanted me to know exactly what was happening. These girls crack me up!!!!
so I don't know how to spell the present tense of tattle...and????

busy busy busy

we have been so busy. Parent/Baby dedication, visit from papaw and gran, our weekend with corduroy (taylor's school project), and introducing 'solid' foods to Caroline. For the record, she's no fan of rice cereal.

Advice for future older siblings...

Taylor's little buddy Cade is due to have a new baby bro/sis any day now. I guess she just wanted to give him a quick refresser course...

(Translation: Dear Cade. Do not climb on the baby's crib. Do not hold the baby unless you have washed your hands)

Tuesday Nite is girls night

Tonight was one of those, Shannon's playing basketball, mommy's out of patience, no nap girls are going to bed early tonight, night. But look at these faces...even on my most exhausting days, I can't help but smile and be thankful. I am so blessed. Can you tell it was spaghetti night in the Rushing household?
FYI...girls are climbing on me and say they officially approve of this post.
***yes, Caroline does have clothes...my mom was concerned so I thought I should assure everyone that she does in fact have some clothes to wear. ;)

6 months old already

Hello, my name is Caroline Grace, but my sisters call me Cay-o-line. I am six months old today. I have several favorite activities including; blowing bubbles/spitting, smiling at my sisters, pulling hair, having pretty eyes...

flipping over CONSTANTLY (especially when my mom wants to take my picture),

and LOVING my feet. I like to play with them and talk to them and put them in my mouth.

This is pretty much my at rest expression. My mom thinks that I am constantly wondering how I got in this mess of a family. These people are CRAZY, but they love me very much!
